Artful Portraits — Fashion-Inspired, Personal, and Unforgettable

Karina offers a fashion-forward, artful touch photography experience, creating portraits that feel like they belong on the pages of a magazine. Based in Auckland, she works with families, expecting mothers, individuals, and brands, crafting images that are stylish, soulful, and deeply personal. For Karina, photography is more than a profession — it’s an everyday way of seeing the world. Once a hobby, it has become a daily ritual: she can’t go a day without capturing something beautiful. Known for her love of experimenting with light — whether inventing new setups, borrowing from classic techniques, or improvising on the spot — Karina transforms ordinary moments into cinematic scenes.Clients often discover that being in front of her camera is both exhilarating and surprisingly demanding — “It’s hard work being a model, ” they joke after a session. But it’s always worth it. Whether chasing the golden sunset at Muriwai or exploring new locations, Karina creates photographs that go beyond appearances, capturing not just how you look, but who you are. Her work is a celebration of light, color, and connection — preserving moments with honesty, style, and a touch of artistry.

When people ask me how I found my way into photography, I always smile — because I think it’s been with me all along. As a child, I loved to draw, experiment with colors, and dream up beautiful, unusual ideas. But it wasn’t just about the art itself — I loved people, moments, and the feeling of wanting to take a little piece of time with me and keep it forever.

At ten years old, I started photographing our family trips, then became fascinated with objects around me. I’d arrange seashells, tiny bears, and all kinds of trinkets on the windowsill, creating little compositions only I understood, and then photograph them. Afterward, I’d spend hours editing — changing colors, adding text, making them into postcards or banners. Then came self-portraits, then my sister, then all my friends — and soon, just about everyone I knew had been in front of my camera.

The turning point came when a friend told me, “Stop calling yourself an amateur. You’re a professional.” I listened. And from that moment on, photography became my work, my inspiration, and my way of telling stories.

What excites me most now are creative shoots — the kind where an idea takes root in my mind and I get to bring it to life. I love hearing clients say, “I can’t believe that’s me!” or “There’s no way you shot this in a garage!” For me, that’s the magic — revealing a side of people they’ve never seen before, and making them feel extraordinary.

I often find myself doubting my work at first, then rethinking it, and months later falling in love with it all over again. I think photography is just like that for me — the deeper you look, the more beauty you find. And with every session, I want my clients to see it too — in themselves, in their stories, and in those quiet, unexpected moments that deserve to be remembered.
